As part of the Primary Team of IL Consultants, John Tassone function as the Lead Coordinator. John has been involved with independent living for about 13 years. He has worked in a variety of positions within the independent living movement; including Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator, Civil Right Specialist, Program Manager, and the Director of Independent Living. He holds a Degree in Accounting/Business Administration.  John currently sits on the Board of Directors as President of the Self-Determination Housing Project and also served as their Treasurer, and serve on the PA Assistive Technology Foundations (PATF) Board of Directors.  John also served on the National Council on Independent Livings (NCIL) Board as the Region III Coordinator.

With grant funding from the Administration on Developmental Disabilities (ADD), John is also administering a technical assistance transportation project in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia to create and develop Transportation Alliances to benefit people with disabilities. He oversees development and implementation of a rural transportation voucher program administered through the Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living (APRIL). John is a "Peer-to-Peer" mentor through APRIL's program offering peer mentorship to Centers for Independent Living.
