Janetta Green is a dynamic member the Primary Team of IL Consultants. Janetta has been involved with independent living for 19 years and with the CILCP for the past 14 years. She has worked in a variety of positions within independent living including receptionist, Independent Living Specialist, Program Manager, and has been in her current position as Assistant Director since 1991. She holds a Bachelors of Social Work degree from Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi, WV and a Masters in Business Administration with emphasis on Organizational Management from Eastern University in St. Davids, PA. Ms. Green is also a certified Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner through the International Code Council.
In her experience, Ms. Green has assisted in writing proposals for development of new programs, administering grants, including work plans, budgets, and reporting to funding sources. Ms. Green was part of the CILCP team in successfully establishing a satellite office in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, which became an independent center in October 1998, now known as Center for Independent Living of North Central PA (CILNCP). This team also successfully reorganized another center for independent living in York, Pennsylvania, preventing closing in 2000, now called Center for Independent Living Opportunities (CILO).
Ms. Green has experience in providing direct services to consumers within the independent living movement. She developed a needs assessment to assist consumers in identifying needed trainings, has developed local support groups, complied a regional resource directory for 13 counties in West Virginia, managed the delivery and publicity of a Braille Transcription Service, TTY Relay Service, Optacon Training, and a Manual Communication and Reader Program. Ms. Green was instrumental in the development of CILVER, computer statistical management software created for independent living centers. CILVER is used in seven CILs in PA and various other CILs throughout the country. In addition to many other duties as assistant director she completes the 704 report, an annual report required by the Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA).
Ms. Green has served as a non-federal reviewer for the U.S. Department of Education's Rehabilitation Services Administration for Title VII, Part C, Section 722 of the Rehabilitation Act. As a non-federal reviewer Ms. Green provided technical assistance for on-site comprehensive program/fiscal review of at least five (5) centers for independent living in New Jersey.
