Pre-admission Screening Residents Review

As a requirement of the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987 (OBRA 87) DPW reviews records of persons seeking admission, or have been admitted, to nursing facilities to see if they meet the clinical criteria for further review by DPW program offices of Mental Health (MH), Intellectual Disability (ID) or Other Related Condition (ORC). The CILCP meets with targeted individuals to explain the Specialized Services Program. Services available can include: training; community integration, Service Coordination, peer counseling, support groups and transportation to assist people to function as independently as possible.

Durable Medical Equipment Program

The Durable Medical Equipment/Ventilator Exceptional Payment Grant Program is available to eligible individuals on Medical Assistance. Covered equipment: manual wheelchairs, motorized wheelchairs, augmentative communication devices, air fluidized bed or low air loss bed.  Equipment must be medically necessary for the resident to maintain the his/her highest level of functioning with Activities of Daily Living

Peer Counselors

Peer Counselors visit targeted residents in the DME program and with the resident’s permission ask questions regarding the DME currently provided to the resident to determine the potential for additional or different DME to better meet the needs of the individual. It is an non-clinical assessment.
