THE CENTER FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING OF CENTRAL PA HIRES A NEW PERSONAL CARE ATTENDANT ASSISTANT (Camp Hill, Pa.) - The Center for Independent Living of Central PA (CILCP) recently hired Shantray Ripply as a personal care attendant assistant. CILCP is a nonprofit, nonresidential organization established to advance the rights of people with disabilities through the elimination and prevention of barriers. Ripply will assist the director of attendant care, Margo Wright. CILCP's Attendant Care Program provides personal care attendants to people with disabilities, enabling them to live independently. Attendants may assist with cooking, cleaning, dressing and personal hygiene. To keep the program running efficiently Ripply will be on-call 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays. In addition, she will assist with attendant care staff training, act as an alternate attendant in emergencies, and provide training when a personal care attendant is given a new assignment. "CILCP personal care attendants are consummate professionals who are dedicated to excellence," Wright said. "Shantray Ripply will be an asset to our already strong team of attendants." During the past three years, Ripply experienced work in the field by teaching people with mental illnesses how to cope with their disability. On a daily basis she encouraged patients to learn independent living activities. She assisted them through organizations such as Keystone Mental Company, Impact Human Services and Northwestern Human Services in Harrisburg. Ripply, a New York native graduated from Florida Memorial College with an AA in Criminal Justice and moved to Harrisburg in 2002. The Center for Independent Living of Central Pennsylvania is a nonprofit, nonresidential organization established for and by people with disabilities and serves Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, Mifflin, and Juniata counties.
