THE CENTER FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING OF CENTRAL PA HIRES A NEW INDEPENDENT LIVING SPECIALIST (Camp Hill, Pa.) - The Center for Independent Living of Central PA (CILCP) announced the hiring of Dave Buettner as a new independent living specialist for the organization. CILCP is a nonprofit, nonresidential organization serving people with disabilities, as well as their family members, community service providers, government agencies and private businesses. As an independent living specialist, Buettner provides assistance to people with disabilities by helping them live more independently. His responsibilities include providing housing assistance to people with disabilities, training them how to carry out daily living activities, maintaining their records and conducting workshops to promote self advocacy and systems advocacy services. As a specialist, he also communicates with community leaders to enhance opportunities for people with disabilities. Buettner previously worked for Electronic Data Systems, Inc. (EDS) in the customer service area. He was responsible for assisting customers with his knowledge of the system's programs as well as coordinating programs, billing and assisting with program upgrades. Prior to joining EDS, he worked for the Pennsylvania State Treasury Department where he dispersed funds to individuals collecting unemployment compensation. Buettner is a native of Johnstown, Pa. and currently resides in the Lower Paxton area with his wife, Joni and two children, Mike and Kelly. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and is an avid golf follower. The Center for Independent Living of Central Pennsylvania is a nonprofit, nonresidential organization established for and by people with disabilities and serves Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, Mifflin and Juniata counties.
