CATHERINE FOUGHT JOINS CILCP AS IM4Q COORDINATOR

CILCP

(Camp Hill, Pa.) - The Center for Independent Living of Central Pennsylvania (CILCP), a nonprofit, nonresidential organization established to advance the rights of people with disabilities through the elimination and prevention of barriers, announces the appointment of Catherine Fought to IM4Q (Independent Monitoring for Quality Project) coordinator.

As IM4Q coordinator, Fought will communicate with IM4Q assistants on the results of their surveys with individuals who receive services from Mental Retardation (MR) programs. The IM4Q is part of a statewide independent monitoring initiative. The project has been implemented in Juniata, Huntingdon, Mifflin, Cumberland, Perry and Dauphin counties. Independent monitoring provides consumers of mental retardation services with a means to express their quality of life.

Fought earned a B.A. in biological and chemical sciences from Wells College, Aurora, N.Y. She has more than 15 years experience working with people with disabilities in various capacities. After working as an industrial chemist for several years, she used her experience as a para-professional for the Capital Area Intermediate Unit and as a caretaker for a young man with Down's syndrome, to pursue a career in human services.

Fought was previously employed by Allegheny Valley School where she worked as a house manager, running several of the school's group homes. She is an active member of the Harrisburg Junior League, Harrisburg Young Professionals and All Saints Episcopal Church in Hershey.

The Center for Independent Living of Central Pennsylvania is a nonprofit, nonresidential organization established for and by people with disabilities and serves Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, Mifflin and Juniata counties. CILCP's vision is to empower people with disabilities to fully participate in all aspects of society.
