(Camp Hill, PA) - The Center for Independent
Living of Central PA (CILCP), a nonprofit organization
established to advance the rights of people with
disabilities through the elimination and prevention of
barriers, announced today that the organization is now an
official Waiver provider which expands CILCP's existing
Attendant Care Program.
According to CILCP's executive director Theotis Braddy,
Waiver's are Medicaid-funded home and community based
services that are a set of medical and non-medical services
designed to help people with disabilities and older
Pennsylvanians live independently in their homes and
communities such as assistance with daily living, community
integration, service coordination, resource management and
other home support services.
"In the past, we could only provide our customers with an
overview of available waiver programs along with guidance,
support and direction regarding who to contact," Braddy
said. "As a Waiver provider, we can provide a more
comprehensive service package to our customers."
According to Braddy, this is a tremendous benefit to
people with disabilities and the aging population who turn
to CILCP for assistance. "In addition to providing Waivers,
we still offer an array of existing attendant care
services," Braddy said. "We also continue to support persons
with disabilities with housing, transportation and other
needs, but our greatest asset is that our organization is
managed by people with disabilities so we understand the
needs of the consumers we serve."
CILCP's Attendant Care Program provides a variety of
Waiver options including the Attendant Care, Independence,
OBRA, and Aging Waivers. The Attendant Care Waiver
provides services to eligible people with physical
disabilities in order to prevent institutionalization and
allows them to remain as independent as possible. Even if
you are determined ineligible for the Attendant Care Waiver,
you may still be eligible to receive services. Under the
Attendant Care Waiver, the CILCP offers attendant care and
support coordination only.
The Independence Waiver provides services to
eligible people with physical disabilities in order to
prevent institutionalization and allows them to remain as
independent as possible. Under the Independence Waiver,
CILCP can offer daily living services such as assistance
with bathing, dressing and personal hygiene as well as
community integration and support coordination.
The OBRA Waiver, also known as the Community
Services Program for Persons with Disabilities, provides
services to people with developmental disabilities so they
live in the community and remain as independent as possible.
Under the OBRA Waiver, the CILCP can offer daily living
services, community integration, resource management and
support coordination.
The Aging Waiver provides long term care services
to qualified older Pennsylvanians living in their homes and
communities. Under the Aging Waver, the CILCP offers
personal care services, attendant care and home support.
