(Camp Hill, PA) - Accessible Communities
Today (ACT) of Harrisburg, the Center for Independent Living
of Central Pennsylvania's (CILCP) grassroots advocacy group
that helps businesses in that area comply to Americans with
Disabilities Act regulations, will present a Certificate of
Recognition to the Waypoint Bank branch at 235 North Second
Street in Harrisburg, on Monday, November 29, 2004 at 2 p.m.
Waypoint has recently installed power doors to improve the
location's accessibility.
It is ACT's goal to assist businesses and show
surrounding communities how important it is to meet ADA
regulations. "We want to recognize the efforts of businesses
like Waypoint," Pam Auer, CILCP's community organizer said.
"They are striving to make their establishment accessible to
everyone."
According to Mrs. Auer, ACT will be recognizing more
businesses throughout the mid-state for improving building
accessibility. Because of its downtown Harrisburg location,
the Waypoint Bank improvements will be important to both
residents and people who work in the area.
"This is a bank that is used by many people everyday.
Waypoint has taken the right steps to ensure they can serve
all people," Auer said.
"Waypoint is proud to receive this recognition," said Joe
Grosso, market manager for the bank's branch at Second and
Pine Streets. "We incorporated electronic doors into our
renovation plans at the branch to improve accessibility and
customer service. We're pleased that the new doors have been
so well received by both customers and visitors."
