(Camp Hill, Pa.) - The Center for Independent Living of Central Pennsylvania (CILCP) announces its partnership with the Center for Independent Living Opportunities (CILO), to provide Personal Assistance Services for individuals living with disabilities in York County. Beginning November 1, CILO consumers living in York County who are eligible for waivers, such as Independence, OBRA, CommCare, Attendant Care and Aging/PDA, are able to choose CILCP as their Personal Assistance Service provider. Over 50 percent of the CILCP staff and board have a disability or personal experience with a disability, which allows for a unique perspective by understanding the challenges first-hand. Additionally, Personal Assistance Services may be available at little to no cost, depending on the individual's situation. "We contacted CILO because we wanted to give their consumers a choice for a provider," said Margo Wright, Director of Personal Assistance Services and CILCP Outreach Coordinator. "We look forward to working with CILO to meet this need in York County and to bring forth this alternative option for people living with disabilities." CILCP has long provided Personal Assistance Services, also known as attendant care, long-term care (LTC), or personal care services (PCS), to people living with disabilities in Mifflin, Perry, Dauphin, Cumberland and Juniata counties. The services provided by CILCP include assistance in performing daily tasks such as dressing, personal hygiene, mobility assistance, light housekeeping, shopping, assistance with meals and medication reminders. "We believe this collaboration will provide consumers with an option of getting their attendant care services from an organization that is consumer controlled and better understands the concerns and needs of persons with disabilities," said Hillary Hasson, Executive Director of CILO.
