The CILCP offers training designed to increase self-reliance and self-confidence in the areas of housing, income benefits, social/recreation, self-care, mobility/transportation, education, vocation and communication. Training is designed individually with the consumer (person with a disability). What is so unique about this program is the consumer sets the pace, decides the goals, and does the work. CILCP staff serve as role models, advocates, and supporters.
Independent Living Curriculum - In
addition to providing individualized life skills training the CILCP
also offers the following curriculum: Budgeting, Cooking, Housing
and Job Readiness. Curriculums vary in length from four to nine
weeks with a fee of $20.00 per curriculum.
Equipment Loaner Program- The Independent
Living Program also loans adaptive equipment (e.g., wheelchairs,
adaptive cooking/eating utensils, etc) to a consumer for a one-month
trial period. This service permits trial use of equipment prior
to purchase to ensure its suitability for use by the consumer.
Eligibility: Must be person with a disability
and live within the six-county area, which includes Cumberland,
Dauphin, Mifflin, Perry, and Juniata.
