My name is John Tassone, Coordinator of the Resource Center for Disability Advocates (RCDA). RCDA as we refer to it, because it is easier to say, is a Developmental Disabilities Council funded grant program. This program is designed specifically for grassroots groups and organizations that need help with getting their advocates trained to advocate for themselves. This program was designed, because groups around the state were asking for help to get their groups more functional and ready for the task at hand. Please call me and we can get your group the training you need to be better prepared for your striving effort towards equallity.

 George Taylor (standing)

Hazleton TrainingI provided advocacy and educational opportunities in Altoona, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Bucks County, Morton, and Hazleton for the Resource Center for Disability Advocates program. These educational opportunities were focused on helping local grassroots groups and organizations select and effectively implement advocacy approaches that will most likely be successful. The specific advocacy topics that were presented and discussed with each group included: Putting a Plan Together, Getting and Keeping Your Group Organized, Networking, and Deciding Which Advocacy Actions to Take. The representatives of the groups and organizations who participated in the advocacy educational opportunities did an excellent job sharing their experiences and recommendations with each other regarding different advocacy components. The Resource Center for Disability Advocates also did an excellent job organizing the educational opportunities. I have conducted advocacy educational opportunities in Pennsylvania for eleven years and very much appreciate having the opportunity to help groups and organizations plan and implement strategies for advocating their self- determined goals!
